WHY USE CHIA AND HOODIA
Research has revealed that more than two thirds of all deaths in the United States are diet related. More than 50% of all deaths are caused from coronary occlusion, blockage of the blood flow to the heart and/or the brain. These are all preventable deaths according to the Journal of American Medical Association which published in 1961 that, All coronary occlusion can be eliminated by 97% through a vegetarian diet. Fourteen hundred American's are dying of cancer every day. In the prestigious Advances in Cancer Research, they concluded, At present, we have overwhelming evidence
(that) none of the risk factors for cancer is
more significant than diet and nutrition.
Chia seeds have tremendous nutritional value and medicinal properties. For centuries this tiny little seed was used as a staple food by the Indians of the south west and Mexico . Known as the running food, its use as a high energy endurance food has been recorded as far back as the ancient Aztecs. It was said the Aztec warriors subsisted on the Chia seed during the conquests. The Indians of the south west would eat as little as a teaspoon full when going on a 24hr. forced march. Indians running form the Colorado River to the California coast to trade turquoise for seashells would only bring the Chia seed for their nourishment.
If you try mixing a spoonful of Chia in a glass of water and leaving it for approximately 30 minutes or so, when you return the glass will appear to contain not seeds or water, but an almost solid gelatin. This gel-forming reaction is due to the soluble fiber in the Chia. The gel that is formed in the stomach creates a physical barrier between carbohydrates and the digestive enzymes that break them down, thus slowing the conversion of carbohydrates into sugar.
In addition to the obvious benefits for diabetics, this slowing in the conversion of carbohydrates into sugar offers the ability for creating endurance. Carbohydrates are the fuel for energy in our bodies. Prolonging their conversion into sugar stabilizes metabolic changes, diminishing the surges of highs and lows creating a longer duration in their fueling effects.
One of the exceptional qualities of the Chia seed is its hydrophilic properties, having the ability to absorb more than 12 times its weight in water. Its ability to hold on to water offers the ability to prolong hydration. Fluids and electrolytes provide the environment that supports the life of all the body's cells. Their concentration and composition are regulated to remain as constant as possible. With Chia seeds, you retain moisture, regulate, more efficiently, the bodies absorption of nutrients and body fluids. Because there is a greater efficiency in the utilization of body fluids, the electrolyte balance is maintained.
Chia seeds are the definitive hydrophilic colloid for the 21 century diet. Hydrophilic colloids, (a watery, gelatinous, glue-like substance) form the underlying elements of all living cells. They posses the property of readily taking up and giving off the substances essential to cell life. The precipitation of the hydrophilic colloids cause cell death.

How to understand the differences in strength and potency claims in Hoodia products?
In order to your better understanding what you buy, here are the simple explanations.
1. Hoodia powder. When producers make a powder out of the whole hoodia plant, the final products are known as 100% pure. In this case, the whole hoodia plant is grounded into a powder. You may check that hoodia roots not be used, because they do not have same molecules.
2. Hoodia Concentrate.Alcohol is used to concentrate it. Normally you will see the 20:1 or 10:1 extracts. Such a concentration is made to remove other stuff in hoodia, like the fiber and skin. In this method, the hoodia plant is placed in alcohol, which pulls out the active ingredients into the alcohol. This mixture is then strained to remove the fiber and skins. The alcohol is removed, leaving the hoodia powder.
As in our Hoodia Diet Extra Tabs, 20:1 means that 1 g of this extract was made by using 20 g of the whole plant. It’s considered more potent than the powdered whole plant – so called 100% pure – as explained in point 1.
3. P57 Molecule. It is used a specific method to extract the p57 molecule, but only Phytopharm and its partners may perform it because of the P57 patent.

The effects of overweight and obesity are clear in the Hispanic population
Among Mexican Americans, obesity and type 2 diabetes are both increasing, unlike other risk factors of cardiovascular disease including smoking and blood pressure, which are declining.
In a study of older Hispanics, with an average age of 80, obesity was found to be a risk factor for developing coronary artery disease.
All the obesity-related chronic diseases that are usual among adults now affects also the youngsters. The percentage of children and adolescents showing overweight or obesity has grown.
Overweight and obesity for children and adolescents are defined respectively as being at or above the 85th and 95th percentile of Body Mass Index (BMI).
Hispanic American children and adolescents have particularly high obesity prevalence. Overweight and obesity prevalence in Hispanic childrens are 39.3% and 23.7% respectively, and 43.8% and 23.4% in Adolescents, according to CDC.
Among male youth, the highest overweight and obesity prevalence is found in Mexican American boys (ages 6 to 11), 43 percent and 27.3 percent respectively, and Mexican American adolescent males (ages 12 to 19), 44.2 percent and 27.5 percent respectively.
The health effects of obesity are also well documented for young population.
Overweight during childhood and particularly adolescence is related to increased morbidity and mortality in later life.
Type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents has increased dramatically in a short period. The parallel increase of obesity in children and adolescents is reported to be the most significant factor for the rise in diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes is predominant among Hispanic youngsters, with a particularly high rate among those of Mexican descent.
Persistently elevated blood pressure levels have been found to occur about 9 times more frequently among obese children and adolescents (ages 5 to 18) than in non-obese.
Among growing youth, bone and cartilage in the process of development are not strong enough to bear excess weight. As a result, a variety of orthopedic complications occur in children and adolescents with obesity. In young children, excess weight can lead to bowing and overgrowth of leg bones.
Obesity is a Real Problem in the United States
In 2000, approx. 60 million people –close to 31% of adults aged 20 years and older- were obese, with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more.
Overweight and obesity are leading causes of diabetes, cardiovascular and other diseases, such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, ischemic stroke, colon cancer, post-menopausal breast cancer, endometrial cancer, gall bladder-disease, osteoarthritis, and obstructive sleep apnea.
Obesity costs so much to America. According to the Obesity Research conducted by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the total cost of obesity reached $75 billion in 2003.
The medical cost of obesity in 2003 for California alone was $7.7 billion.
Overweight and obesity in the United States occur at higher rates in racial / ethnic minority populations such as African American and Hispanic Americans, compared with White Americans.
Women and persons of low socioeconomic status within minority populations appear to particularly be affected by overweight and obesity.
The problem is relevant into the Hispanic population. Acording to CDC data, the hispanic population was the most overweighted in the ethnic groups in 2000.
With more than 35.3 million Hispanics living in the United States, that means too much people.
Mexican American and African American adults in the U.S. are considerably more overweight and obese than white (non-Hispanic) adults.
The Hispanic population has high prevalence rates of overweight (73.4%) and 34.4% in obesity.
For men, the Mexican American population has the highest prevalence of overweight (74.4 percent) and obesity (29.4 percent).
